Philemon Wright High School Principal's Message 2007-2008

Welcome to our new website. Our hope is that you find our website user-friendly and packed with information to help you stay current with the operations and happenings at Philemon Wright High School throughout the school year. Please visit our homepage often to take advantage of the multiple links and updates posted regularly. Our website includes policies, important information regarding life at school and will include weekly and monthly newsletters that will keep our school community informed about all the great things happening at school this year.

To all our students, we urge you take advantage of the academic and social/emotional supports available. Our instructional, administrative, and school support teams all believe every student can be successful. At Philemon Wright, we offer our full support and assistance every step of the way in your journey through junior high school. We extend a warm welcome to all incoming, returning students, and new students and parents.

The goal of senior high school is to both prepare students for post-secondary education and prepare students for life-long learning opening a world where there are a variety of careers to choose from. There are four main keys to success at Philemon Wright:

  1. be respectful of yourself and others, at all times;
  2. be present each day to learn as much as possible from the sources available to you;
  3. do the very best you can, complete your work and be prepared for MELS and Board-wide exams (ask for help whenever it is appropriate); and
  4. become involved with our co-curricular and extra-curricular activities that provide for a well-rounded and memorable senior high school experience.

May this year be filled with learning, safety, fun and success for all members of our school community.

Respectfully,
Terry Kharyati
Principal

Western Quebec School Board School Registration Information

Eligibility for English Instruction and General Requirements

Dear Parent or Guardian,

Welcome to the Western Quebec School Board. Before you can register your child(ren), the law requires that you establish eligibility for English education. Please note the following;

  1. Parents who wish to enroll their child(ren) in one of our schools must first obtain a Certificate of Eligibility issued by the Ministry of education, Loisir et Sport, in conformity with Law 101 (Charter of the French Language).
  2. Application forms and information on eligibility may be obtained from your local school.
  3. To register your child(ren) with the Western Quebec School Board the following minimum documentation is required to complete the process referred to in section (b).
    1. Certified copy of the child's birth certificate bearing the parents' names.
    2. Proof of Quebec residency (i.e. hydro bill or tax bill).
  4. Unfortunately, no student is permitted to start school until they have received a Certificate of Eligibility or a Provisional Authorization to Attend English Schools.
  5. Applicants who have been denied eligibility for English instruction may appeal the decision to the Ministry of education, Loisir et Sport. In the mean time, the student would be required to enroll in a French School.
  6. Additional information related to eligibility for English instruction may be obtained from the Manager of Admissions, Manon Dusablon at (819) 684-1313 ext. 304 or from our website www.wqsb.qc.ca.

Thank you.
