Western Quebec School Board School Registration Information
Eligibility for English Instruction and General Requirements
Dear Parent or Guardian,
Welcome to the Western Quebec School Board. Before you can register your child(ren), the law requires that you establish eligibility for English education. Please note the following;
- Parents who wish to enroll their child(ren) in one of our schools must first obtain a Certificate of Eligibility issued by the Ministère de l’Éducation, Loisir et Sport, in conformity with Law 101 (Charter of the French Language).
- Application forms and information on eligibility may be obtained from your local school.
- To register your child(ren) with the Western Quebec School Board the following minimum documentation is required to complete the process referred to in section (b).
- Certified copy of the child’s birth certificate bearing the parents’ names.
- Proof of Quebec residency (i.e. hydro bill or tax bill).
- Unfortunately, no student is permitted to start school until they have received a Certificate of Eligibility or a Provisional Authorization to Attend English Schools.
- Applicants who have been denied eligibility for English instruction may appeal the decision to the Ministère de l’Éducation, Loisir et Sport. In the mean time, the student would be required to enroll in a French School.
- Additional information related to eligibility for English instruction may be obtained from the Manager of Admissions, Manon Dusablon at (819) 684-1313 ext. 304 or from our website www.wqsb.qc.ca.
Thank you.
