Falcons 40th Year Anniversary and Reunion - Update

Dear Staff, Alumni, Family and Friends,
On behalf of Philemon Wright High School and the Philemon Wright Alumni Association, we would like to thank everyone who attended, participated in and volunteered at the 40th Anniversary and Reunion which took place at Philemon Wright on September 26th and 27th, 2008.
The weekend was a time to reminisce, gather with old friends, and give thanks to present and former faculty.
Football
Both Philemon Wright and Hadley Junior High won their respective football games on September 27th. Philemon won 39-10 against Cité Etudiante de la Haute-Gatineau (Maniwaki) and Hadley won 70-0 against Cité Etudiante de la Haute-Gatineau. The wet and cold fall weather couldn't keep those boys from playing at their best. Many friends, alumni and family were on hand to cheer them on to victory. Go Falcons and Hawks!!
Faculty Recognition Wine and Cheese
Many former and present faculty attended a Recognition Wine and Cheese in the Library on the afternoon of the 27th. Those present thoroughly enjoyed meeting new faces, reconnecting with everyone and a wonderful time was had by all. Over 120 former and present faculty attended the Wine and Cheese.
Evening Dance/Party
Over 350 alumni and faculty enjoyed themselves at Saturday night's event. There were many compliments and lots of positive vibes from alumni and staff. It was wonderful to see those people who attended and those who didn't were surely missed.
Memory Lane/Drama Reunion
The Memory Lane walls were lined with various memorabilia transporting both Alumni and faculty back through 40 years in time. In the small gym; a digital presentation of photos taken from yearbooks, covering 40 years of Philemon Wright history, was viewed by many who all seemed mesmerized. Many faculty and alumni enjoyed an hour of intimate chatting with “The Glove” during the Drama Reunion. This was followed by a surprise digital photo presentation comprising of the various productions and class photos for Mrs. Glover. Mrs. Glover was thrilled by the presentation.
Children's Fun Fair
Many FREE activities were available throughout the day. A large craft area was set up in the cafeteria where children could spend quiet time creating a masterpiece. There were also movies playing all day - the kids could kick back on the gym mats for a relaxing break! Two inflatable structures were available for rambunctious fun in the Hadley Gym. A clown walked the halls, shaping balloons and a very talented face painter "beautified" the kids in the cafeteria. No day would be complete without a presentation from Little Ray’s Reptile Zoo. The kids and parents alike loved it. One Dad even faced his fear of spiders by holding a tarantula!
Souvenirs/Silent Auction
A total of more than $500 was raised on Souvenir Sales and just under $1200 was raised for the 22 prizes in the Silent Auction. We would like to thank all our sponsors once again for helping us by donating these wonderful prizes.
In closing, we would especially like to thank all the PW staff, volunteers, Reunion Committee and Philemon Wright Alumni Association members who were instrumental in making our Reunion a success. It was a lot of hard work and without the many volunteers and staff this would not have been possible. A special thanks goes out to those few who not only worked on the planning, but also set up, worked the entire event and stayed late into the wee hours to clean up. We take a lot of pride in the version of PW we put forth, appreciative our storied past and are encouraged by our bright future.
